Wondering what to do with the kids this May half term? We’ve picked six of the best family friendly events and there’s something to please everyone.

The Amazed by Science festival has events all across Cheshire, including at the world-famous Jodrell Bank, perfect for scientists of all ages. Turn your little ones into nature lovers by taking them to see the ducklings at Martin Mere. For something a bit grander, check out the Tall Ships Festival in Liverpool which has lots of family friendly fun on offer. There’s a choice of medieval fun with “Joust, Tournament & Mellee” at Beeston Castle and the “Knights and Princesses Weekend” at Chirk Castle.  And finally, families with very young children can take their teddies “down to the woods today” at Dunham Massey’s Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

Amazed by Science Festival across Cheshire

The Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta in Liverpool

25th – 28th May
A weekend of activities for all the family. There’ll be Tall Ships, music, circus workshops, nautical storytelling and displays plus much more.
Visit the fantastic 50 ft sperm whale. Inside there will be pirates and mermaids telling tales of buried treasure.
Watch the Tall ships Crew Parade processing through the city centre and on to the waterfront.

Downy Duckling Week at Martin Mere

26th May – 3rd June
See the whole egg-to-duckling process, watch chipping eggs in anticipation and meet newly hatched ducklings in our education room.
Take part in fascinating ‘candling’ workshops (where a light is used to look inside an egg).
