Celebrate Chinese New Year …

… in Manchester

17th – 18th February
Manchester has the biggest Chinese New Year celebrations in the UK outside London. Join in the weekend long celebration to welcome in the Year of the Dog. There will be thousands of red lanterns decorating the city’s shopping streets. Take the opportunity to try Chinese street food and enjoy live music, performances, a funfair and the famous dragon parade and fireworks finale.

… in Liverpool

18th February
Liverpool will celebrate the start of the Year of the Dog in great style as usual.   As well as a vibrant busy atmosphere and food stalls, there will be cultural events, family workshops, street entertainment and a fun fair. Plus, of course, Dragon & Lion Street Parades and a spectacular firecracker display.

… in Chester

17th February
Celebrate the year of the dog in Chester City Centre.  Starting at 11am at Storyhouse, with traditional music and dance performances. Then at 12.30 come and see the Chinese New Year of the Dog Festival parade in Chester City Centre.  There will be lion and dragon dances. This is always a lively and colourful event. Grab a spot on the rows for the best view!


Get outdoors for a family snowdrop walk …

Rode Hall Snowdrop walks 4th February – 5th March
Blow the cobwebs away with a walk round one of the finest displays of Snowdrops in the North.  Stroll amongst the carpet of Snowdrops in the Old Wood, discover numerous beautiful Spring flowers on the way.
