World Book Day 2020

World Book Day this year is on Thursday 5th March

World Book Day is a charity dedicated to giving every child and young person a book of their own. On the first Thursday of March each year there is an international celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading.

In many schools, children are encouraged to go to school dressed as their favourite book character. If you’re panicking about providing an outfit, take a look at these ideas for easy world book day outfits. But World Book Day isn’t really about dressing up, it’s about encouraging children to read. Here are a few simple tips to get children reading and some reasons why you definitely need to take your child to the library.

There will also be special events held in libraries and other venues across the region to celebrate World Book Day including The Puffling Children’s trail at Biddulph Grange and World Book Day Weekends at Rufford Old Hall and Chirk Castle.
